Well, it’s that time of year again…yes, Christmas, but I’m actually talking about pre-launch festivities for my upcoming release, Isaiah’s Legacy! Releasing a book is sort of like birthing a child. Really?
I’m a woman. I’ve gone through childbirth twice. No drugs. I’m allowed to say such a thing.
Okay, releasing a book is nothing like having a baby, but it IS a big deal. And there are certain things I do EVERY time I get ready for a release—just like there are traditions our family does EVERY Christmas.
Stockings are a big deal for our family. Always done by the parents for the kids, everyone knows they’re getting some fun stuff in their stocking even if they’re only getting $$ as a gift. (Yes, sometimes because of distance, we’ve had to resort to simply giving cash.)
The picture above was taken in our log cabin on the first Christmas together after our family had spent so many apart. And those stockings were a thing of beauty. Why? Because everyone knew they were coming—yet they were full of surprises!
Stockings & Short Stories
Okay, what I’m about to say may seem a bit of a stretch, but go with me. One of the things I ALWAYS do for a book launch is pre-release short stories. Prequel vignettes that tell a little backstory about minor characters you’ll encounter in the upcoming book.
So my short stories are sort of like those Christmas stockings…y’all probably knew they were coming, right? But it’s always a surprise to meet the minor characters in the eShorts! Why are they called eShorts? Because they’re delivered in digital format–but you can print the pdfs if you want to.
The February 18th release, Isaiah’s Legacy, tells about Shulle (Meshullemeth), a little girl whose Uncle Shebna brings her to Jerusalem to help tutor the boy king, Manasseh, who has some peculiar tendencies that match her father’s odd behavior. Because Shulle’s mother died while giving her life, she knows only the loving stories her father has told her about this beautiful woman named Adnah.
Adnah’s Legacy is a set of three short stories detailing the complexities of a woman’s heart and the lasting effect of her love on the two brothers who loved her.
You might remember Shebna from Isaiah’s Daughter, the first book in the Prophets & Kings series. Though Isaiah’s Daughter and Isaiah’s Legacy each can stand alone, they also tell a continuous story if read as a set.

Hi Rebecca!
I haven’t released the third eShort, so the one you’ve gotten is the combo of the first and second: Adnah’s Heart (#1) and Adnah’s Love (#2).
