I don’t like mean people. Shouldn’t we always at least try to be polite? And the Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus called us to something even bigger—something harder.
We’re supposed to love our enemies. Including mean people. And even pray for them. (Matthew 5:43-48)
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Matthew 5:44 NIV
I’m trying to get better at loving my enemies. Honestly, writing these short stories about Adnah, Shebna, and Haruz are really doing a number on my heart. When I write a character’s emotional response, I usually feel it with them. When I write their words, I think those words through the character’s heart and mind first.
Adnah, Shebna, and Haruz had a lot of practice responding to mean people in the eShort I sent last month, Adnah’s Heart. They’ll have more complex opportunities in today’s story, Adnah’s Love.
Nuts-N-Bolts
If you missed last month’s eShort, don’t worry! We’ve added the second eShort to the end of the first and sent them as a single file, so when you download today’s story, you’ll actually download BOTH.
Our final eShort will arrive in the February 3rd newsletter and will again be added to the bottom of the first two stories (to make it easier for those signing up for the newsletter in the middle of the process).
