Ready, Set, Go Time!

I must confess I’m not ready for the New Year. It sorta started before the bell rang, before the starter’s gun fired, before the green flag waved. My grandson has a little bit of that starter’s anticipation going on in this video…he’s already running toward my arms while he’s saying, “Ready, Set, Gooooo!”

Ready or Not

Time is relentless, isn’t it? That sparkly ball drops on Times Square at midnight each December 31st no matter how far behind I am on my To-Do List.

Life marches on, and the Lord asks us to be prepared “in season and out of season” to encourage, teach, forgive, and reconcile others to Him.

You see, time may be relentless, but God need not be relentless because is eternal. Because He dwells outside of time, He need not deal with deadlines and constraints. He can be eternally present, eternally encouraging, and eternally forgiving. He continually draws us to reconciliation, and when we finally see Him face-to-face, we’ll have no less days to eternally enjoy Him. How cool is that?

Taking Time

As your clocks tick, and your calendars turn to 2015, remember we serve the Creator of time. It is He who orders our days and our schedules if we will TAKE our time and give it to Him. Believe me, I’m writing those words to myself more than to you.

The wisest man who ever lived on this earth said:

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens…”         Ecclesiastes 3:1 (emphasis added)

“For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery.”                       Ecclesiastes 8:6 (emphasis added)

And the Apostle Paul wrote in his second letter to the church at Corinth:

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”             2 Corinthians 9:8 (emphasis added)

Since the Foundations of Creation

Since the first day of Creation, God has given every human being the same amount of time each day. Think about that. Cultures change. Governments change. Even the landscapes of the earth change through volcanic shifts and erosion. But we are all given twenty-four hours in a day–the same as Noah, Abraham, David, Daniel, and Jesus.
