From the mouth of my babe…
I was chatting with one of my daughters yesterday, and we were commiserating on the break-neck speed at which our lives are changing. As we talked about all the “irons in the fire” of her life, mine, and a few other family members, she looked at me and said, “Sometimes I think life gets crazy because God is saying, ‘Hey, I’m up here. Remember Me?'”
After we shared a chuckle, we agreed to remember…
Remembering God is not always my first response to a difficult situation. Oftentimes I worry, fuss, complain, wear myself out physically–and then I cry out to the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. Go figure. Why not remember FIRST?
To maintain a healthy habit of regular worship, I will: “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”
Exodus 20:8
When I lie in bed at night, unable to sleep because of pressing demands or uncontrolled concerns: “On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night.”
Psalm 63:6
When I must strengthen my faith for what lies ahead, I will remember God’s faithfulness in the past: “They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.”
Psalm 78:35
And when I question my worth, when I see myself as anything less than God’s precious prize, I will remember the Sacrifice He made to pay my debt: “And [Jesus] took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.'”
Luke 22:19
A Daughter’s Prayer…
Precious Abba, thank You for the hard things in life that remind me of Your constant presence and sufficiency. I don’t ever want this earthly life to become more appealing than eternity with You. Keep my focus turned upward and my heart filled with eternal treasures.
Today’s Question:
- In what life circumstance is the Lord calling to you, “Hey, Remember Me?”
