About Today’s Free Download

In today’s newsletter, you’re receiving the first of two free short-story prequels to Of Fire and Lions. In today’s download, Daniel—My Abba, My Hero, you’ll read about Daniel’s early years from the perspective of his (fictional) mother, Atarah. You’ll also be introduced to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—but by their Hebrew names: Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Their (fictional) parents also make an appearance.

The Scriptural characters you’ll meet are kings–three from Judah and one pharaoh: Josiah, Jehoahaz (Shallum), Jehoiakim (Eliakim), and Pharaoh Necho. Names are always tricky, but I’ve tried to make it clear who’s who. Take a deep breath and soldier on!

We’ve provided the downloads in three separate formats. iBook readers will want to download the epub format. Kindle readers the mobi. Or, if you download the pdf to your computer, you can import it to Kindle by sending it to your Kindle email address (Google: how to upload a pdf to kindle).

I hope this little taste of Daniel’s story will whet your appetite for Of Fire and Lions coming March 5th! We’ve got lots of fun things planned:

  • Group discussion questions in the back of the book
  • FREE downloadable Bible study  (coming soon!)
  • A YouVersion Bible study, Lessons from Babylon (coming soon!)
  • FB Live event with LOTS of prizes on March 5th @ 8pm ET

Nope. You’ll get both downloads in the February editions of the newsletters if you’re already subscribed. The first one was in today’s Book Lover’s edition. For current subscribers AND those who subscribe to the newsletter after today, y’all will get the second newsletter on 2/18 which includes another opportunity to download DANIEL–MY ABBA, MY HERO AND the second eShort, NEBUCHADNEZZAR–MY POWER, MY WORLD. Beginning 2/19, folks who subscribe to the newsletter will get the two stories combined as a single novella (called, OF HEROES AND KINGS) as a free gift for subscribing. Hope that makes sense. 😉

      1. I’m already signed up for the newsletter, but wanted to wait and read the short stories when I had the book on hand and could read them all at once. 🙂 However, I have somehow ended up with the first short story, but not the second. Is there anyway for me to get the second short story still? Thank you! (LOVE your books!!!)

    1. Hi Sylvia, I too was stumped at first but go to the bottom of today’s email from Mesu and there’s a click button there specifically for the ebook.

  1. Thank you for the free book. Of Heroes and Kings downloaded and looking forward to reading it. I absolutely love your writing style, the historical research is spot on (sorry about that-my grandmother immigrated from England & I still use some of her phrases).
